Caretaker Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce SM Tanveer on Wednesday announced the establishment of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Mandi Bahauddin district.
He also directed the concerned authorities to implement the project immediately so that the local traders would benefit.
According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Industries Department, Provincial Minister Mandi Bahauddin was talking to the business community at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
SM Tanveer highlighted the positive impact of this initiative on grassroots industrial development in Mandi Bahauddin, Lala Musa, Kharian, Jhelum, Gujarat and Wazirabad.
He expected increased industrial growth and investment, which would create new employment opportunities. SM Tanveer mentioned the plans to enhance Mandi Bahauddin CCI’s role in increasing basmati rice exports.
He pledged support for the development of the theme park and the strengthening of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He added that Mandi Bahauddin Industrial Estate would be revived and a dedicated desk would be set up in the DC office to help industrialists.
