Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab Syed Khadim Abbas has said that overseas Pakistanis are playing a key role in the economic development of the country and their remittances are supporting millions of families.
It is the responsibility of the administration and the police to protect the interests of the hardworking overseas Pakistanis and provide them with prompt solutions to their problems. He expressed these views while addressing a review meeting of pending applications of overseas Pakistanis at Commissioner’s Office Gujranwala Division here on Tuesday.
OPC Imtiaz Ahmed Khan along with Deputy Commissioners of Districts, District Police Officers and officers of concerned departments participated. Commissioner OPC directed officers to process pending applications of overseas Pakistanis.
Expressing concern over the illegal occupation of migrants’ properties, he said that the government cannot tolerate the occupation of other people’s properties which have been built with their hard earned money.
The meeting was informed that 4 thousand 222 applications of overseas Pakistanis were received in Gujranwala division, out of which 3 thousand 325 have been resolved.
Currently, only 293 applications are pending across the division, out of which 12 are from Gujranwala district, 41 from Gujrat district, 109 from Mandi Bahauddin district, two from Narowal district, 125 from Sialkot district and three from Hafizabad district.
Syed Khadim Abbas expressed anger over the pending applications for more than a year and issued instructions to resolve them as soon as possible.
