The caretaker government of Punjab on Sunday made it mandatory for citizens in 10 smog-affected districts of the province to wear masks while stepping out of their homes.

“Punjab Government has announced a one-week mandate for all citizens in smog-affected districts of Punjab to wear face masks. It is our collective responsibility to prioritize health. Please follow the guidelines for a safe community. Do it,” he said.

According to the notification shared by Naqvi, the order will be enforced in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Narowal, Hafizabad, Sialkot and Mandi Bahauddin from November 20 to November 26.

Earlier, the government had decided to impose a smart lockdown in smog-affected districts on November 18 to address the alarming rise in conjunctivitis cases amid rising air pollution levels and smog. All public and private schools, colleges, universities and offices were closed.

Experts have advised citizens to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the harmful effects of smog, such as wearing masks, using air purifiers, avoiding outdoor activities, especially during Suhoor hours, and if they have any Get medical help if you have any kind of pain.
