Another case of monkey pox has been reported in Pakistan. The suspected victim is undergoing treatment in Rawalpindi.

The Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination has confirmed one positive case of monkey pox in Rawalpindi.

According to the National Institutes of Health, the patient is currently hospitalized in Rawalpindi for management, where he is receiving appropriate care. An NIH team under the Ministry of Health is conducting epidemiological investigations and contact tracing.

Their relatives are also being monitored. The NIH said there is currently no risk of further spread of the disease in Pakistan. With the latest case, the number of people affected by this disease in Pakistan has increased to four.

A third case of monkeypox was reported in Mandi Bahauddin in May in a traveler returning from abroad. The NIH confirmed that the victim returned to Pakistan after traveling abroad and was checked up due to deteriorating health.

The first two cases of this disease were also from Punjab as both belonged to Rawalpindi. A team from Mandi Bahauddin DHQ Hospital sent the samples to NIH Islamabad and later it was confirmed by the health institute.
