Post-graduate classes for doctors started in DHQ hospitals

On the directives of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, post-graduate classes for doctors are starting in district headquarters hospitals of the province, a historic first for Pakistan.

Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Care Dr. Jamal Nasir disclosed this on Wednesday while meeting a delegation of Young Doctors Association Punjab led by its president Dr. Shoaib Niazi.

The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Pakistan College of Physicians and Surgeons, will offer postgraduate programs for doctors in Attock, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Mandi Bahauddin and Jhang. The aim of this initiative is to extend specialized medical services to the less developed districts of the province.

Additionally, the Punjab Health Department has integrated hematology into pathology, introducing post-graduation in clinical hematology under a central induction policy. The minister highlighted the creation of new posts for hematologist doctors and the operation of blood banks under their supervision.

He congratulated Dr. Shoaib Niazi on being elected as YDA President, hoping that the Young Doctors will live up to Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s vision to enhance healthcare services for the citizens.
